Menorcan shoe manufacturers Mascaró launched two new models of their popular Pretty Ballerina range in aid of breast cancer yesterday. Featuring hearts and ribbons, the new designs are on sale in all the company’s shops, and also on the Internet, at 169 euros per pair, 5 euros of which will be donated to different associations involved in the fight against breast cancer.
Every Saturday evening until the 12th December , seven of the town’s bars and restaurants will offer a tapa and a beer or soft drink for the price of 2.50 euros between 1900 and 2300 hrs. and the shops will be open from 1800 to 2000 hrs.
Each of the seven bars involved (Ca’n Jaumot, Café des Forn, Bar Escacs, Bar Géminis, Grok i Blau, Es Pouet Nou and La Tropical)will offer a speciality which will be changed daily with care being taken that there are no repetitions on the ‘trail’. Examples of the delicacies which will be prepared are octopus and onions (Géminis), cuttlefish balls (Ca’n Jaumot), chicken ‘a la riojana’ (La Tropical), bread topped with goats cheese with oregano and black olives (Café des Forn), fried Menorcan cheese with tomato curry (Grok i Blau), lamb ‘tornelles’ (Es Pouet Nou) and garlic mushrooms (Escacs).
